This past week I’ve been writing down what I eat to get an overall picture of my diet, and I’ve realized that I’ve got to stop eating unhealthy snacks during snack time at work. (I’m a pre-k teacher. I consider eating snack with the kids a perk.) Sometimes families send in healthy snacks… but today we had fruit snacks. Yesterday we had muffins. Those are now on my “no” list. The kids may need a snack, but *I* will survive without one. (Or bring a better alternative with me.)

For instance, a healthy snack of almonds and dried cranberries can turn into a huge calorie source if you don’t pay attention to quantities. Also, preparing pre-apportioned healthy snacks can help you avoid mindless overeating and can make it convenient to grab a healthy snack.

Take a few minutes and write down all the reasons you can’t begin an exercise program. Then look at the basis of each reason. For instance, if you wrote, “No time” as one of your reasons, then perhaps that’s based on a belief that an exercise program takes a lot of time. Starting with even five minutes a day will have a positive effect because you will have created a healthy habit where one didn’t exist before, and that’s a powerful mental adjustment. A closer look at your list will expose those false beliefs hiding behind each excuse.
In example, historically by the late 19th. Century, daily scheduled work had become a norm for most people, so the largest meal of the day tended to occur in the evening when all family members could re-gather and relate the activities of the day. Yulia-Davidovich/ShutterstockAlong with occasional splurges being good for your psyche, the weekend is a bad time to start because you have too much free time, says Stephens. Your schedule is off, so it’s harder to stick to the healthy habits you practice all week. For instance, you may not be sitting down to oatmeal in the morning but rather running out for coffee and a muffin. Rather than cooking a meal at home, you’re going out to eat. Save it for when you have a normal routine or a more rigid schedule, like the workweek, which can help you stick to a diet. (But you can still fit in exercise with these weekend warrior tips.)
Restrict your carbohydrates. Most people tend to only focus only on net carbs. If you want great results, limit both. Try to stay below 20g net carbs and below 35g total carbs per day. If you need extra help, we also have a small guide on finding your keto carb limit >

Getting out of the comfort zone can be the hardest thing you have ever done because it means setting down your ego, walking up to a perfect stranger and asking for help. It means asking a lot of questions in a group setting when you would rather hang back and mimic it or worse- fake it. It means focusing attention away from the group, where we are all comfortable, and on to you. It is uncomfortable. But it is do able. If you can build some mental toughness. Your body can achieve much more than you think you can. If you can get that pesky ego out of the way.
They should help keep you from feeling deprived and bingeing on higher-calorie foods. For instance: honey has just 64 fat-releasing calories in one tablespoon. Eggs have just 70 calories in one hard-boiled egg, loaded with fat-releasing protein. Part-skim ricotta cheese has just 39 calories in one ounce, packed with fat-releasing calcium. Dark chocolate has about 168 calories in a one-ounce square, but it’s packed with fat releasers. And a University of Tennessee study found that people who cut 500 calories a day and ate yogurt three times a day for 12 weeks lost more weight and body fat than a group that only cut the calories. The researchers concluded that the calcium in low-fat dairy foods triggers a hormonal response that inhibits the body’s production of fat cells and boosts the breakdown of fat. Add these other fat-burning foods to your diet, too.
